Aroma is a kissaten in the underground Yaechika mall at Tokyo Station. It is on the Yaesu side of Tokyo Station. Yae short for Yaesu and chika for basement. Aroma’s morning set is a bargain 600 yen ($4.50). Coffee, boiled egg, thick cut toast, butter, jam, and azuki sweet red bean paste. The siphon coffee changes daily. Today’s pour was Guatemala.

My favorite part of Aroma was the music. Hits from the 80s. Prince was playing as I arrived. Let’s Go Crazy. I felt like I was back in Minnesota. The Doobie Brothers What A Food Believes. I closed my eyes and I was back in high school driving my car with the window down.

Aroma has a big menu of toast, sandwiches, and coffee drinks. Great location. Busy shop. Mix of young and old. I hope the music stays the same. Aroma opened in 1970.
