A local spot and a luxurious treat is the Sembikiya Fruit Parlor in Nihonbashi. On the second floor of the historic shop which dates back to 1834. Sit at the counter to watch as the staff cuts by hand many different types of fruit for parfaits and fruit plates.

I visited Sembikiya with @gonellietravel founder Amy Norman. We toured the Nihonbashi district and saw a $200 muskmelon and a small box of strawberries for $100. If you want to taste the unblemished perfectly ripe fruit the Fruit Cafe on the second floor has a big menu.
