Chef Lee Anne Wong has brought her Hawaii Koko Head Cafe to Tokyo. In Hawaii it is a popular
brunch café.

What’s unique about Koko Head Cafe Tokyo is that it’s also open for dinner. In Hawaii it’s a brunch restaurant so closes in the afternoon. So stop by later in the day for a frozen pina colada and dinner or Hawaiian pupus. It’s open until 11 at night. Last order is around 10:30 p.m. There is an open veranda that overlooks Tokyo Station. Great views when the skies go dark and the city lights up, especially Tokyo Station which is beautiful at night.

The Koko Moko skillet with crispy rice, beef patty, mushroom gravy sauce, fried egg, and is topped with kimchi tempura. A signature dish. Another signature is the Cornflake French Toast with bacon, black pepper maple syrup, and frost flakes gelato. I was so comforted that I fell asleep on my train ride home to the suburbs. The menu rounds out with egg dishes, donburi rice bowls, Hawaiian-style garlic shrimp, and other comfort foods.

The restaurant is in an incredible location in the #ShinMarunouchiBuilding just in front of #TokyoStation on the #Marunouchi side (not the Yaesu side). It’s busy at noon as the office workers all dine at 12 noon sharp, so come early or late.

The space is bright and sunny at lunchtime as it’s on the corner. Staff are wearing Hawaiian print shirts and greet diners with an aloha.

I first met Lee Anne when I was back in New York City. We are both alumni of the #FrenchCulinaryInstitute. I am so proud of Lee Anne and her success, especially as a working mother. 🙂
