Lemon Pie

Japan is filled with shops that specialize in a dish. Lemon Pie Yoko near Tawaramachi Station (close to Kappabashi and Asakusa) serves up a fantastic lemon pie with a bouffant meringue. There are other pies, but this is their signature dish. This retro building is also awesome.

I carried it for an hour until I got home. It survived the long trip! It’s a fantastic pie and I now need to find an excuse to go back. Note it’s only open from noon to 3:30 p.m.

There is no eat-in area but if you want to eat it right away there is a cafe down the street that will let you bring in slices of pie. God bless Japan!

  1. This pie looks absolutely magnificent!
🍋🥧 Your choice of “bouffant” is brilliant, hilarious, and absolutely 💯!
I adore everything about this sweet place—the building as you said; the focus; the short hours; this pie and its effective packaging. And the fact that a business allows you to bring it in. This was true in Thailand, of course one also bought something from the second location, but the spirit seems to me to put hospitality into commerce.

    1. Exactly! I look forward to making more pies from your amazing cookbook! Xoxo
