Izakaya 🏮 Mimasuya

Mimasuya izakaya in Kanda opened in 1905. The fourth-generation shop is one of Tokyo’s oldest izakaya pubs. Long on my radar and have only finally just made it there. On a quiet backstreet in Kanda. Popular shop. We went at 6 p.m. and got some of the last seats.

The menu is filled with sake-friendly small bites. All good. Tamagoyaki. Fried squid. Zenmai ferns simmered in a sweet soy sauce. Tuna and leeks in a sweet nuta miso dressing. #Karaage – because who doesn’t love fried chicken? #Agedashidofu – because who doesn’t love fried tofu? Yakitori. We paired the dishes with @taka_domaine sake, a crowd-pleaser.

Dinner for two, with sake was a steal for only less than 7,000 yen ($50). Highly recommend if you’re in the area. Mimasuya is also open for lunch. 🙂
