Utsunomiya MinMin

MinMin gyōza

On our way back to Tokyo from Nasu Shiobara in Tochigi we made a last minute decision to stop in #Utsunomiya for #gyoza. The city is famous for potstickers. There are dozens of restaurants in the city. As we didn’t have a lot of time we went to our favorite MinMin. It is connected to the station building so even though it was raining outside we stayed dry.

Simple order of gyoza. 🥟  Fried. Pan-fried. Boiled. With a side of salty cabbage and carrots tsukemono pickles that were made that morning. After five days of being on the road, eating mostly rice, I don’t need rice with this meal.

We were lucky that our train to Tokyo Station from Utsunomiya was the brand new Yamagata Tsubasa #shinkansen.

For our five days of travel we used the #Niigata #Nagano @jrpass. An excellent value for residents of Japan who carry a foreign passport. 27,000 yen ($185) for a consecutive five-day pass. Travel includes all JR trains including shinkansen. Highly recommend. Details here:
