In Akita we discovered a spacious and hip kissaten, Cafe Akaibunko. It is located next door to the Akita Public Market, also called Citizen’s Market. 

After picking a table a server pushed a cart and parked it table side. She then queried if we would like water with or without fresh lemon. I love this thoughtful service. I almost cried.

Akai Bunko offers a lovely complimentary morning toast set to accompany any drink order. I went with coffee. My kid had his first frappucino. The strawberry 🍓 iced beverage was huge and not too sweet. The toast set is with an egg (boiled, scrambled, or fried) or with an azuki bean paste and butter.
