Onigiri breakfast at Fujie Labo at Tachikawa Station. The brightly lit cafe is part of the Yamamotoyama family, Tokyo’s oldest tea shop which dates back 330 years.
Two onigiri with a cup of tea, hot or cold, for only 500 yen ($3.50) is the morning set from 7:00 – 10:30 a.m. I picked gyu shigure, beef cooked in a sweet soy sauce and nori with crunchy ume salted apricots. Yamamotoyama specializes in both tea and nori.
Fujie Labo is in the e-cute station building. Just exit out of the South Exit and take a right. It is not on the street level but on the level that the station ticket gate is. The matcha lattes also look amazing, but it was hard to resist the onigiri breakfast special.

If the trek to Tachikawa is too much check out the upscale tea room in Nihonbashi, Fujie Sabo. Last time I walked by the shop there was a sign in front that said reservations are required.
