Mochitsuki

With Boris Priesol enjoying kombu mochi.

Mochitsuki, pounding sticky rice to make #mochi at #Masuizumi #sake brewery in #Iwase, #Toyama. Here with Boris Priesol who is one of the founders of the hip Kobo brewpub down the street.

Mochi rice pounding.

We stopped by to say hi and were lucky in our timing to get a taste of the mochi which included #kombu #kelp. It was delicious!

5th-generation sake brewer Masuda san.

The mochi pounding was in the #sake brewery. If you visit the charming city, which I highly recommend, be sure to allow time to taste through a flight of #Masuizumi sake at the Saseki tasting room.
