Kyoto Incense

Shuyeido incense shop and Kunjyukan museum.

Kyoto Shoyeido has been making incense since 1705. The shop has a wide variety of products including non-burning sachets, that are not lit with a fire but that can be carried in a bag or used as a bookmark. I put a small sachet in my business card holder which infuses the cards.

Incense culture has been in Japan for over 1,400 years. The Kunjyukan museum next to the Shoyeido retail shop is a wonderful way to learn about incense and to take in the perfume of a variety of aromas. A fun experiential education. Do stop by if you’re in the area.

The main shop is in Karasuma Nijo but there are also branches in Kyoto, Osaka, and in Tokyo Ginza (Chūō-ku, Ginza 7-3-8) and Ningyōchō (Chūō-ku, Nihonbashi Ningyōchō 2-12-2).Kyoto Shoyeido @shoyeido_incenseNakagyō-ku, Karasuma Nijō
