Kacto in Kyoto is a newer restaurant in Kyoto that is located on the Kamogawa River. Kacto is part of the Tysons and Company group which has fabulous restaurants in Tokyo like Cicada, Ivy Place, and T.Y. Harbor. Chef David Chiddo oversees all of these kitchens.

I had a short break from work so only had time for a quick beer and a salad, but definitely look forward to returning. The salad of kale and mizuna included dates, fruit tomatoes, farro, and nori covered chestnuts in a chestnut dressing. Comfort food. The beer is made by tyharbor_brewery.

There is outdoor seating on the veranda overlooking the Kamogawa river. It was the first section to fill up on this warm spring evening. Mostly tourists outdoors. Indoors on the second floor was all locals.
Service is warm and solid. I have included a photo of the menu. Lunch includes the fluffy pancakes and other brunch style dishes. Put Kacto on your radar for comfort food or if you are looking for an alternative to all of the Japanese food you may be eating when in Japan.
