The melon pancake (1,400 yen) at Kissaten Bridge is over the top. A thick hot cake is wrapped around fresh cantelope and ice cream. This is then covered with a sweet honeydew flavored cream. This dish is the signature sweet at this quiet old school coffee shop in the basement of the Nishi-Ginza department store.

The dish is very sweet. So sweet that I couldn’t finish it. A blast to finally try the cake that I have seen in so many magazines covering kissaten culture.

Bridge also has a selection of sandwiches. The sandwiches all looked good. A drink purchase is required. Grapefruit juice (900 yen).

So, very interesting. My first time to see signs up that said since smoking is allowed in the kissaten that diners under the age of 20 are not allowed to dine here. If anyone can enlighten me on this rule I am happy to hear about it! Luckily when I went there was no one smoking. Phew. Had there been I would have inhaled the melon cake and left quickly. 🤣

If you like sweets, then put this on your radar.
