For me nothing beats a #kissaten #Japanesebreakfast when I am traveling in Japan. For the simplicity of the meal, but also for the ambience of these old school #coffee shops.

About a ten-minute walk from #Nagano Station is Saramu. The owner said she took it from the Arabic greeting salaam after watching Lawrence of Arabia. See. This is exactly the reason why I love kissaten. These conversations.

The morning set here is a ridiculous 550 yen ($3.75) for toast, salad, boiled egg, and coffee. The owner ground the coffee beans after my order. I also love kissaten as there are usually newspapers to peruse. The shop had two other regulars and myself. I wish I had a cool spot like this in my Tokyo neighborhood. I would love to become a kissaten regular.
