Kissaten are retro coffee shops that often serve my favorite breakfasts while I am on the road. Tsutaya in Toyama city opened in 1923. A smooth cup of coffee with toast, omelette, and a salad. Just like I have at home. Perhaps that is why I love these meals. Love the handwritten notes on the menu!🥰

Tsutaya sits on a corner across the street from the city’s public library and Glass Art Museum. I love the buzz of light rail trains passing by the café every few minutes. Kissaten are also a chance to catch up on the news with local newspapers. This day the local port had a large harvest of winter yellowtail, kanburi.
